Taskbar Legends
The pixel-art idle auto-battler that literally lives on your Windows taskbar. A transparent click-through strip auto-fights adventures while you work — assemble heroes, forge gear, collect and ascend 170 champions across 21 zones.
The gimmick that works: it runs as a thin strip above your taskbar — your party fights and banks rewards while you do other things. No alt-tabbing, no watching combat; it's an idle game in the most literal sense.
How a session works
- 1Open packs, build a party
Summon heroes from packs, then arrange tanks, healers and damage dealers into a formation. Equipment and abilities are matched to the enemies ahead.
- 2Pick a zone and a length
Each zone is a fixed chain of stages with a themed enemy roster and bosses at fixed points. Choose x1 through x100, or Endless.
- 3Let it run on the taskbar
The party fights on its own — rewards bank the moment a run clears. Closing the client or losing connection pauses the adventure; there's no offline catch-up.
- 4Camp between runs
Equip what dropped, craft and upgrade gear, then push deeper. The Codex and fishing fill out the downtime.

Tips for the early zones
Formation before stats
Tanks up front, damage behind — a correct formation beats a stronger party in a bad one, especially in the first zones.
Learn each zone's boss slot
Bosses sit at fixed stages — once you know where, you can gear specifically for that fight instead of the whole chain.
Endless is the answer to walls
When a zone stops you, drop one zone down on Endless and walk away — several levels and a bag of ascension materials later, the wall folds.
Check the Codex
The Codex lists what's still to find — heroes, gear, zones. It's the checklist that tells you what "done" looks like.
FAQ
Is Taskbar Legends free?
Free to start on Steam — the Founders Edition is an optional one-time bundle of packs, pulls and cosmetics.
Does it really run on the taskbar?
Yes — a transparent, click-through overlay strip above the Windows taskbar. Your party fights there while you use other apps.
Is it always online?
Yes — a Steam account and internet connection are required. Closing the game pauses adventures; there's no offline progress.
Does it work on Mac or mobile?
No — Windows PC only. The whole design hangs on the Windows taskbar.
How idle is it really?
Fully — once an adventure starts, combat needs zero input. Your job is party setup, gear and choosing the next zone.
