How catching works

  1. 1
    Play your instrument to lure

Equip it and start playing — nearby Scrooms get drawn in by the tune.

  2. 2
    Tune to its frequency

Tune the instrument before the Scroom commits — faster Tune Speed stats make this quicker.

  3. 3
Hold it in the catch zone

Keep the Scroom inside the moving zone to fill the progress bar — if it slips out, progress drains.

  4. 4
    Full bar = captured

It goes into your Index — the collection tracker of 61 named Scrooms.

Beginner route

  1. 1
Talk to Leo in Songkeeper's Grove

He gives you the Wooden Lute — your first instrument.

  2. 2
Catch one Scroom, turn in the quest

Worth 1,350 XP and 125 Chimes — then sell at the Grove merchant.

  3. 3
Buy the Tamer's Guitar (100 Chimes)

Your first real upgrade from the Equipment Bag — better stats, faster taming.

  4. 4
    Find Halden's five statues

Unlocks the Ocarina — a separate song tool for travel and sealed doors.

  5. 5
    At level 25, race Shax

Turn in the quest and win the Songtreads — needed for the jump into Bluestone Caverns.

Chimes & progression

Currency comes from selling caught Scrooms and quest rewards — spend it on better instruments, each with different stat cards (tune speed, catch zone size, lure range). Rare spawns like the Eversung need upgraded gear and patience. Songs you learn later do more than catch — they buff your team and open secret passages.
