Seldom — the Daily Trivia Game Where the Rarest Answer Wins
Every day, everyone gets the same question — like "name an animal that hibernates". The twist: you don't want the right answer, you want the rare right answer. Free, no account needed.
How to play
- 1Read today's question
Everyone worldwide gets the same daily prompt — everyday categories like fruit, countries, animals or movies.
- 2Make 5 guesses
Each guess must be a valid answer. Invalid answers aren't counted against you.
- 3Score 0-100 per guess
Your score is how "obvious" the answer is — how many out of 100 people would think of it. Lower is better.
- 4Total out of 500 — go low
Your five guesses sum to your daily score. A guess scoring 0 is called "a Seldom" — an answer almost nobody would think of. A perfect day is 0/500.
- 5Hints cost points
Stuck? You can take up to two hints per puzzle, each revealing part of an answer — but using that answer adds to your score.
Scoring strategy
You're not trying to be right — you're trying to be rare.
Skip the first answer
Whatever pops into your head first is what everyone else thought of too. Sit with the category for ten seconds and go one layer deeper.
Stay valid, not absurd
A wrong answer doesn't score at all — "dragon" isn't a hibernating animal. You want the valid answer nobody reaches for: Rambutan, not Apple.
Think niches you know
Your hobbies are free Seldoms. Regional foods, obscure species, lesser-known team members — personal expertise is the whole edge.
Hints are a trade
A hinted answer still scores — but it adds points on top. Use one to save a dead guess, not to chase a perfect board.
FAQ
When does the Seldom daily puzzle reset?
A new puzzle goes live every day at midnight UTC — the same question for every player in the world.
Is Seldom free?
Yes — completely free, and the daily puzzle needs no account. Signing in with Google or email only syncs your history; older archive puzzles may ask you to sign in.
What is "a Seldom"?
A guess that scores 0 — an answer almost nobody would think of. Five zeroes is a perfect 0/500.
What if my answer is rejected?
Invalid answers simply don't count as guesses — the game checks answers before accepting them, so you can keep trying within your five guesses.
