How a round works

  1. 1
    Watch the first clip

Each day's guest introduces themselves on video. The first clip alone is enough to guess — if you can read the culture, language or story right away.

  2. 2
    Guess "where am I from"

You're naming the country of their roots and culture — not necessarily where they live now. Many guests are part of a diaspora, so an American or Australian accent can be a trap.

  3. 3
Reveal clues if you need them

Up to 8 video clues, each one easier than the last — food, holidays, daily life, language. The final clue shows the country's outline on the globe.

  4. 4
    Three guesses, that's it

A right answer ends the round. So does a third miss. You can lock a guess in as early as the first clip.

Scoring out of 10,000

Score starts at 10,000 and only goes down — the fewer clues you burn, the more you keep.

Miss all threeYou still score for proximity — closer guesses preserve more

After a miss, the distance feedback matters: a few hundred kilometres means a neighbouring country, thousands means you're in the wrong region entirely. Use the globe as a scratchpad — pinned flags are hunches, not locked guesses.

Strategy that actually helps

  1. ●
    Guess early when you're sure

A wrong guess costs 30% of what's left, but each extra clue is more expensive than the one before. On an easy guest, a first-clip guess beats six clues every time.

  2. ●
    Read the clue titles

Clue titles alone carry signal — a guest whose clips are titled "Sauna" and "Island Life" is telling you something before you press play.

  3. ●
Save a guess for the outline

On hard days, keep one guess in reserve until the final outline clue — it's the single most revealing hint in the game.

  4. ●
    Think diaspora, not accent

The single biggest mistake is naming the country the accent sounds like. The question is where their roots are.
