Regional counts differ — Japan's app carries the Starfy trilogy, Mother 3 and F-Zero Climax that Western apps don't, which is why the "36 games" total counts both regions.
Where to start — the standouts
Metroid Fusion / Zero Mission
The two best GBA action games, both on the service — Zero Mission is the remake of the NES original.
Golden Sun 1 & 2
Camelot's full duology — 60+ hours of one of the handheld's best RPGs.
Zelda: Minish Cap & ALTTP
The Capcom-developed Minish Cap plus the Link to the Past port with Four Swords multiplayer.
Fire Emblem
Three entries in the JP-inclusive count — The Blazing Blade (the first Western release) plus Sacred Stones and the JP-only Binding Blade.
Mother 3
The famous never-localized RPG — JP app only, but fully playable with a Japan account.
