MW4 Campaign Early Access
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 opens its full sixteen-mission campaign a week early — but only to players who pre-ordered digitally. Here is exactly who gets in, when each window opens, and what finishing early earns you.
Quick answer: pre-order or pre-purchase any digital edition of Modern Warfare 4 — Standard or Vault — on your platform's store and the entire campaign is playable from Friday, October 16 (PT) until launch day.
The three dates that matter
| Window | Opens | What unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign Early Access | Oct 16 (PT) | All 16 campaign missions, playable until launch |
| DMZ Early Access | Oct 20 (PT) | The full DMZ mode for digital preorders |
| Worldwide launch | Oct 23 | Multiplayer, campaign and DMZ for everyone |
Who qualifies
The rule is simple, but the physical-copy trap catches people every Call of Duty cycle.
- 1Buy a digital edition before launch
Both the Standard Digital Edition and the Vault Edition include Campaign Early Access. No separate add-on is needed.
- 2Order through your platform's own store
Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC (Play Anywhere), PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2 all carry the benefit.
- 3Install and play
The early-access build appears as a download once the window opens — campaign only until launch day.
What you are playing early
The campaign is the complete sixteen-mission story — not a slice.
You play Private Park Hyun Jun and his squad fighting a full-scale invasion across the Korean Peninsula, with missions spanning Paris, New York and Mumbai — while John Price runs an off-book hunt for whoever is pulling the strings. Clearing it before launch frees you to start multiplayer and DMZ immediately on October 23.
Campaign completion rewards
Progressing through missions earns items usable in Multiplayer and DMZ at launch, in this order:
"Cho" Base Operator
First completion reward in the chain.
"No More Rules" Calling Card
Plus a Double XP Token further along.
"Dallas" & "Luca" Operators
Mid-campaign operator unlocks.
Loading screen, emblem & more
"Ready Line" loading screen, "Gone Dark" emblem and the "Oh-Ji" base operator cap the list.
