Moonshot — the daily word game
A free daily brain game with two missions a day: answer a prompt with common or deliberately obscure words for rarity points, then solve The Ladder. Resets daily, no account needed.
The game lives only on its official site — it cannot be embedded here. Each day you get one "Common" mission and one "Blue Moon" mission plus a ladder puzzle; your score comes from how rare (or how popular) your answers are.
The daily missions
Common
Give answers that as many players as possible also picked — popularity scores, like a survey game. Obvious answers win.
Blue Moon
The opposite: give correct-but-rare answers that almost nobody else thought of — the rarer your valid answer, the more it scores.
The Ladder
A daily word-ladder style puzzle to finish the session — connect the ends with valid intermediate steps.
Scoring strategy
- 1Think like the crowd in Common
The #1 scoring answer is the one everyone names first — fight the urge to be clever; "generic" is the skill.
- 2Go obscure-but-safe in Blue Moon
An answer nobody gave scores great — but only if it's valid. Pick less-famous members of the category that still clearly qualify.
- 3Play it daily
Missions reset every day and there is a streak rhythm to it — two to five minutes per day is the whole ask.
