Why this happens every update

It is not your install — it is how mod loading works.

Every new Geometry Dash update breaks Geode for low-level technical reasons; unless RobTop officially supports modding, it will keep happening. The Geode team is a small group of students working in their free time, so fixes typically take a few days. Your mods are not gone — they are unavailable until each mod's developer updates it, after which Geode notifies you in-game.

What to do right now

Ordered from least to most disruptive.

   Update the loader first

   Run the Geode installer again from the official site — after a game update the loader itself must be re-installed to its newest version.

   Try Safe Mode if it crashes

   Hold Shift throughout launch on Windows or macOS (hold the Launch button on Android). If a specific mod is crashing the game, Safe Mode lets you get in and disable it.

   Check each mod's status

   Loader working is not the same as mods working — verify every mod's supported game version in the in-game mod browser before blaming Geode.

   Uninstall Geode temporarily

   If nothing launches cleanly, the official advice is to remove Geode for now and play vanilla until the update lands.

Playing on the older GD version

The fallback that keeps every mod working.

   Stay on or roll back to the previous GD build

   You can keep playing on the previous GD version — at least until Geode catches up.

   Grab the matching older Geode

   Older loader builds live on the project's GitHub releases page. Be aware an older Geode can also break at any time for technical reasons.

   Antivirus false positives

   If Geode seems gone after an update, check whether your antivirus quarantined it — it is a known false positive; add an exception.
