He can hear you — literally. The monster tracks footsteps, your text chat and your microphone voice, and he talks back if you speak to him. Stay quiet, hide in lockers, blind him with the camera flash, and grapple out when it goes wrong.

The two modes

Story Mode

Uncover the incident that closed Fathom Amusement's underground park — the narrative route, played solo or co-op. Progress saves automatically, so you can leave and pick up where you stopped.

Chase Mode

Skip the story and go straight into the hunt — survive the monster's pursuit for as long as you can. The mode most stream clips come from.

Surviving Grinsworth

  1. 1
    Sound is the mechanic

He climbs walls and crawls vents, and he locates you by noise — footsteps, chat pings and live mic audio all count. Talking to him is a gamble: he answers, and now he knows where you are.

  2. 2
    Grapple to escape

The grapple is your get-out tool for breaking line of sight or a bad corner.

  3. 3
    Camera flash blinds him

A flash buys a few seconds — enough to reposition or vanish, not enough to fight.

  4. 4
Lockers only work if you're silent

Hiding spots fail the moment you make noise — mute yourself before you climb in, not after.

FAQ

Is FATHOM free?

Yes — free on Roblox, solo or up to 4 players.

Does progress save?

Yes — Story Mode autosaves, so you can return and continue from where you left off.

Can it really hear my microphone?

Yes — if Roblox voice is enabled on your account, your real voice attracts the monster and he can respond to what you say. You can play with voice off; footsteps and in-game chat still count.

What is the monster?

Grinsworth — a creature inspired by Buddy from the FNAF 1 remake, per the developer's own note.

Is there a Fears to Fathom connection?

Different series — this is FATHOM by The Crimson Crusaders on Roblox, not the Fears to Fathom anthology.
