Brotato
Brotato is the arena-survivor roguelite where a six-armed potato auto-fires through waves of aliens. It is back in the spotlight with Primal Dread — the biggest expansion since Abyssal Terrors — which launched on PC November 2.
Why it’s trending: the Primal Dread DLC just launched on PC (console/mobile early 2027) alongside a free "All Pain No Gain" update — new map, new dino enemies, 10 characters, 17 weapons, 40 items and a brand-new Evolution stat that mutates your run.
What Primal Dread adds
Jungle map
A prehistoric biome with 20 waves of new enemies, elites and bosses — potholes funnel ground enemies nicely (pterodactyls ignore them).
Evolution stat
A new two-way stat — push it Mecha or Mutation and both your bonuses and enemy forms/attack patterns change mid-run.
10 new characters
Including the Poacher (kills in his zone make him stronger but drop less money) and a time-stop-on-damage potato.
New gear & music
17 weapons, 40 items, new tracks and achievements — the mecha side of Evolution upgrades weapons with microchips.
FAQ
Is Primal Dread free?
No — it is a paid DLC on Steam; the companion "All Pain No Gain" update (new hardcore difficulty) is free for everyone.
When is it on console/mobile?
Early 2027 for PS5, Xbox, Switch 2, older consoles, iOS and Android — PC got it first on November 2, 2026.
Do I need Abyssal Terrors first?
No — the DLCs are independent maps/content; the story just continues Brotato’s trip across the planet.
Best starter character for the new map?
Defensive survivors shine early — the jungle’s mixed air/ground waves punish glass-cannon builds until you know the new enemy patterns.
