The free Steam Next Fest demo is playable worldwide from October 19 to October 26, 2026 (10:00 AM PDT). No sign-up, key or waitlist - anyone with a Steam account can download and play. This is a limited-time demo, not the full release: Steam still lists the commercial launch as "To be announced."

Demo progress does not carry over. Treat the demo as a combat and class trial for the paid Early Access version, not a head start on progression.

What is in the demo

The Next Fest build focuses on combat, class identity and story. Life-skill systems like Housing and Trade are saved for Early Access.

  1. 1
    Diamond Shores region

One of Auroria's earliest regions, with roughly 2-3 hours of quest content. You arrive as an explorer tied to a trading company investigating ancient ruins.

  2. 2
All four classes, both weapons each

Every announced weapon is playable, so you can test 8 different kits on one character each. Since nothing carries over, try at least two classes before judging the combat.

  3. 3
    First-ever public PvP

The demo adds PvP channels - the first time the public can test the skill-based combat against real players rather than just the environment.

  4. 4
    Throne of Hinnon dungeon

A higher-level challenge dungeon outside the normal quest path. You have to find the key first - deliberately hard, built for players who want something to crack.

Classes and weapons

Your skills change with the weapon you hold, and each weapon has its own trait tree. A third weapon per class is planned for later.

Warrior - Longsword

Defense and counters. Parries turn defense into offense; built for players who like control and timing.

Warrior - Greatsword

High damage and breakthrough. Build up resolve, then land a heavy decisive blow.

Ranger - Hatchet

Fast melee built on dodges, counters and combos. Close-range aggression with mobility.

Ranger - Longbow

Mark a target, keep your distance, and land critical hits at the right moment.

Mage - Elemental Staff

Ranged fire and lightning. Retain spells and chain them without incantations; ten energy cores trigger the area attack Shooting Star.

Mage - Wavesword

Frost melee that builds a freeze gauge to overwhelm enemies up close.

Berserker - Axe & Shield

Defensive charger. Axe strikes build Bleed, Shield Slam knocks enemies back, Reel In pulls targets with a chain, and Brutal Crash staggers while reducing damage taken.

Berserker - Warhammer

Fire and lightning offense. Surging Heat builds Burn, stored thunder powers Thundering Hurl, and Meteor Hammer charges the Galactic Impact ultimate.

Combat feel: non-target action combat - no default tab targeting, with an optional lock-on for aiming. Real-time dodging matters more than rotation memory, which is why the PvP channels are the real test.

How to play the demo

  1. 1
    Open the Steam page

Go to the ArcheAge Chronicles store page (store.steampowered.com/app/3218230) and click the free demo download. Any Steam account works - no application needed.

  2. 2
Pick a server and a class

Six demo servers are live worldwide. Pick the class whose combat style fits you - Warrior or Berserker for melee pressure, Ranger for spacing, Mage for burst.

  3. 3
Finish the quests, then try PvP and the dungeon

The quest line is short. Spend the rest of your time where the build actually shows something new: the PvP channels and the Throne of Hinnon key hunt.
