New player? As a Survivor your whole job is: find red mist patches, clear them with the skill-check minigame to shorten the escape timer, and reach the escape ring when it spawns at 1:00 left. As the Killer, hunt early — you get stronger every phase, but survivors get closer to escaping every patch they clear.

How a match works

One round is a race between the survivors' teamwork and the killer's escalating power.

  1. 1
    Roles are assigned

Every player has a hidden killer-chance percentage — since v1.20 the highest always gets it (a paid "Increase Killer Chance" product exists). Everyone else is a Survivor.

  2. 2
    Survivors clear the red mist

Mist patches spread across the map. Clearing one is a skill-check minigame and each clear cuts time off the escape timer — clearing more mist means Phase 2, Phase 3 and the escape ring all arrive sooner.

  3. 3
    The killer escalates in phases

Per the v1.25 patch notes: Phase 2 hits at 5:48 remaining, Phase 3 at 3:27. The killer gets stronger each phase — some killers change their entire moveset at Phase 3.

  4. 4
    Escape ring at 1:00

When the timer reaches one minute, an escape ring spawns and is marked on every survivor's screen. Reach it to escape; everyone left when it closes loses.

Survivor guide

You don't pick a Sonic character — you build a "vessel" in the Survivor Editor, then equip two abilities.

Ability picks

Healing Box restores a teammate 30 HP and clears their Downed state; Camouflage is the go-to stealth escape. Warning: equipping two stun abilities halves your stuns, so mix types.

Spread out

Mist patches are everywhere and the killer can only pressure one area at a time. Solo clearing beats group hugs until a teammate goes down.

Read the mist as a timer

When mist advances into an area, leave early — don't wait until your movement options are gone. Late-game, regroup toward the ring's side of the map.

Rescue smart

A Downed teammate costs the team a clearer. Save the rescue for when the killer commits elsewhere, and run Healing Box if your lobby keeps dying early.

Heads up: the game is alpha — abilities, phases and timers change between patches. What follows is the state as of late October 2026.

The five killers

The Deity is the free starter; the rest unlock with Rings earned by playing. Two killers transform into a different moveset at Phase 3.

FAQ

Are there Abyssal Escape codes?

None as of October 2026 — the game is days old and the developers haven't released a code system yet. Robux purchases exist (Rings bundles, Increase Killer Chance) but codes aren't one of them yet.

Is it a SEGA game?

No — it's a fan-made Sonic.EXE-style horror experience owned by the Roblox group Abyssal Escape (led by Den_zee), and it has gore. Not affiliated with or endorsed by SEGA.

The game shows as unavailable — is it down?

Alpha servers go up and down with updates; thousands of players are typically online when it's live. If the play button is greyed out, check back later — it's usually a patch deploying, not a shutdown.

How do I play as the killer more often?

Killer picks use a chance roll where the highest percentage always wins. Playing rounds slowly builds your chance; the only paid shortcut is the "Increase Killer Chance" product.
