Quick answer: sign in to your account on epicgames.com, open Account → Password & Security, scroll to Two-Factor Authentication and enable either an authenticator app or email authentication. Fortnite then grants you the Boogie Down emote free.

How to enable A2F / 2FA - step by step

Using more than one method? You can enable both app and email. Click the three dots next to your preferred one and choose "Make my primary 2FA method".

What you get for enabling it

Epic rewards the setup with free items — and quietly locks several features behind it.

Reward / unlockDetails
Boogie Down emoteFree Battle Royale emote granted to every account that turns on 2FA
Save the World bonuses50 Armory slots, 10 Backpack slots and 1 Legendary Troll Stash Llama (STW owners)

App or email - which method?

Authenticator app (recommended)

Codes generate on your phone even without email access, and they can't be intercepted by someone who compromises your inbox. Any standard app works: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, LastPass.

Email authentication

Simplest option — Epic emails a code at each new sign-in. Fine if your email itself has a strong unique password (ideally with its own 2FA).

FAQ

When will Fortnite ask for my 2FA code?

At the first sign-in after enabling, on any new device, when it's been over 30 days since your last login, or after clearing browser cookies.

I enabled A2F but got no emote — why?

Restart Fortnite first. Still nothing? Check you enabled it on the same Epic account you play with — and on console, confirm your console profile is linked to that Epic account.

Is A2F different from 2FA?

No — A2F is just the French term (authentification à deux facteurs). Same setting, same Boogie Down reward.

Can Epic Games ask for my code or password?

Never. Epic employees will never request your password or 2FA code — anyone asking for them is attempting account theft.

⚠

Scam watch: sites and videos offering "free V-Bucks" or skins in exchange for your Epic login are the #1 account-theft route. Only ever enter your credentials on epicgames.com — and let 2FA catch anyone who gets your password anyway.
