Wanderburg: Castle Modules, Cannons, Wizard Towers, Legs
Build a Wanderburg castle that survives later regions. Stack side cannons and wizard towers, unlock Fire Mage first, and switch to legs when the map gets cluttered.
Goal: Get a castle that actually survives later regions by unlocking the right modules fast, then stacking side cannons and wizard towers instead of spreading upgrades across every slot. Players right now are dying because they keep wheels too long, ignore Fire Mage, or pick barracks when they needed more guns.
1What to Do First (Meta and Between Runs)
- 600Dash
- 800Side Barracks only if you like minion play
- 1200Side Ballista
- 1600Force Mage
- 2000Fire Mage — this is the module people call the run-winner
- 1Unlock Frontcannon by upgrading your starting side Cannons in a run, then buy it permanently.
- 2Unlock Cannon Tower and Lightning Mage by leveling the matching crews during runs (Cannon Crew and Mage Crew).
- 3Catapult unlocks by eating 300 cows. Companion by killing 120 enemies.
Do not chase these first.
2In-Run Module Picks (the Actual Decision Order)
Start every run with the free side Cannons. Then:
- 1First extra slot: Top Mortar or Mine Layer if you need breathing room.
Mortar hits stuff above you. Mines punish chasers.
- 2Second or third slot: take Fire Mage as soon as it appears.
Players keep saying the fire storm plus side flamethrower upgrade clears packs that cannons alone miss.
- 3Next: Cannon Tower or Frontcannon.
Cannon Tower focuses the biggest enemy. Frontcannon gives the long-range punch you lack when enemies sit in front.
- 4Wizard line: Fire Mage, then Side Flamethrower, then Lightning Mage once Mage Crew is leveled.
Lightning stuns the blobs that walk into your sides.
- 5Only take Ram and Arms or Dash and Teleporter if you are already dying to being surrounded.
Movement modules help more on legs than on wheels.
3Legs vs Wheels (the Other Big Choice)
- 1Wheels: faster on open Grassland, better for eating villages and cows, easier steering for most people.
- 2Legs: what players switch to when the map gets cluttered (Dark Forest and later biomes).
Legs climb and turn tighter so you can keep wizard towers and side cannons pointed at threats instead of sliding past them.
- 3Switch to legs once you have at least one wizard tower and Frontcannon or Cannon Tower.
If you stay on wheels with only side cannons you get flanked and die to boss broadsides.
Key Decision Points
- Silver spending. Fire Mage and Force Mage first. Extra barracks can wait.
- First extra module. Top Mortar or Mine Layer for breathing room, then Fire Mage as soon as it shows.
- Wheels vs legs. Wheels on Grassland. Legs once the map gets cluttered and you have a wizard tower plus a forward cannon.
- Movement modules. Only take Ram, Arms, Dash, or Teleporter if you are already dying to being surrounded.
Common Mistakes
- Saving Silver for everything instead of buying Fire Mage immediately.
- Taking Side Barracks early and then never feeding the troops. They fall off when enemy castles get guns.
- Putting every upgrade into Ram because it feels good, then having no damage for the boss that sits still.
- Staying on wheels in later regions and wondering why you cannot aim the towers.
- Ignoring crew upgrades (Cannon Crew and Mage Crew). Those are what actually unlock Cannon Tower and Lightning Mage.
