Under a Rock Playtest Access Guide
Under a Rock Steam playtest is a closed, wave-based test tied to the Survival Crafting Fest. Anyone can request, access is not instant. Here is how to request, what to expect in the Alpha build, and what to do after you get in.
Core goal: get Steam playtest access for Under a Rock before the Survival Crafting Fest window closes. This is a closed, wave-based playtest. Anyone can request. Access is not instant and not guaranteed. If you are selected, Steam sends the invite. The fest and playtest window is tied to September 7 at 10am PT. Official posts are still telling people to request before time runs out.
1How to Request Access
-
1
Open the Steam store page while logged into the account you actually play on.
store.steampowered.com/app/1667040/Under_a_Rock/
-
2
Click Request Access, the green button on the playtest section.
There is no extra form, no Discord requirement, and no special eligibility. Official wording: everyone interested can request.
-
3
Also wishlist and follow the game on that same Steam page.
Players who already follow the page are the ones who see the invite notification first.
-
4
Stay signed into Steam. Desktop client is more reliable than the browser for playtest invites.
Check Steam client notifications, Library where the playtest build appears as a separate download once invited, and Steam email if you have that enabled.
-
5
If invited, install immediately and play.
This build is single-player only, Alpha, limited island, Tier 1 survival: harvest, recipes, craft, combat, building. Expect bugs and unfinished systems. Creature taming is not in this playtest.
-
6
After you play, submit the official feedback form the studio keeps linking.
forms.cloud.microsoft link from the official X account. That is the pipeline the developers actually read.
2Decision Points
Common Mistakes
- Assuming Request Access downloads the game immediately. It only puts you in the queue. Steam sends the invite in a later wave.
- Requesting on a family-shared or unused alt and then checking a different login. Use your main account.
- Ignoring Steam notifications for a day. Invites can sit unused. Check client, Library, and email.
- Expecting full multiplayer, late-game tiers, or creature collecting in this build. It is Alpha, single-player, Tier 1, no taming.
- Looking for keys, Discord codes, or giveaways as the main path. The path players and the studio are using is Steam Request Access.
