Build Core
The Caduceus exotic AR repairs you and your allies for ~3% of critical hit damage dealt. The heal scales with the damage of your crits, not just crit chance. This means you need high crit chance (60%+) for consistent procs AND high crit hit damage (CHD 400-450%+) to maximize heal output. The result: a build that tops off group armor while dealing real DPS.
Why Tipping Scales
Tipping Scales gear set builds stacks on sustained fire (up to 50), granting +0.5% Weapon Handling and +4% CHD per stack. Stacks linger, enabling massive sustained DPS and healing ramps. Combined with Caduceus, one magazine can heal millions of armor across your group.

Build Assembly Steps

1

Choose Specialization

Technician for +1 skill tier

Run Technician specialization. The +1 skill tier supports your repair skills (Chem Launcher or Restorer Hive) and adds utility. If you want more healing output, swap to the +10% skill repair variant.

Max out your Expertise level on the Caduceus to level 30 for maximum base damage, which directly increases heal output.

2

Optimize the Caduceus Exotic AR

Weapon mods and attributes

Target stats for the Caduceus:

  • Magazine: 105+ rounds (via Tipping Scales backpack + extended mag mod)
  • Damage to Targets Out of Cover as the third attribute roll
  • Optics mod: 10% Crit Chance
  • Underbarrel mod: 5% Crit Chance
  • Muzzle mod: 5% CHD
  • Magazine mod: Extended magazine for maximum rounds

Base damage at full optimization: approximately 144k damage at 1.6M armor. Every crit procs group-wide armor repair scaling with your CHD output.

3

Equip 4-Piece Tipping Scales

Backpack mandatory, skip chest

Run 4-piece Tipping Scales for the set bonus. The backpack is mandatory for the extra magazine size, weapon handling, and CHD synergy.

Do not use the Tipping Scales chest. Instead, equip a chest with Perfect Obliterate talent for a big damage boost on kill procs. Alternative: Glass Cannon chest for pure aggression (trades survivability for damage).

Tipping Scales stacks build on sustained fire up to 50 stacks: +0.5% Weapon Handling and +4% CHD per stack. At max stacks, that is +25% Weapon Handling and +200% CHD, dramatically boosting both DPS and healing.

4

Core Attributes & Rolls

3 Red, 3 Blue balance

Target attribute distribution:

  • 3 Red cores (Weapon Damage) for DPS and heal scaling
  • 3 Blue cores (Armor) for survivability, targeting ~1.6M total armor
  • Crit Chance: Max it first via gear rolls and mods to hit 60%+
  • CHD: Stack to 450%+ after crit chance is capped
  • Secondary rolls: Weapon Handling, Rate of Fire, Magazine Size on gear pieces

The priority order is critical: Crit Chance first, then CHD. Without consistent crits, the Caduceus heal procs too rarely to sustain the group.

5

Select Skills

Supplement the Caduceus passive healing

The Caduceus handles most passive group healing through crits. Skills supplement rather than carry:

  • Repair Chem Launcher: Direct area healing for emergency top-offs. Quick cooldown, low skill tier requirement.
  • Restorer Hive: Sustained group healing over time. Pairs well with Technician's +1 skill tier.
  • Decoy or Jammer: Utility for escalations and PvP. Controls enemy positioning while you sustain fire.

Playstyle & Rotation

Combat Loop
1. Get in cover and start sustained fire on a group of enemies.
2. Build Tipping Scales stacks to 50 (one full magazine gets you most of the way).
3. Keep firing. Each crit repairs your armor and nearby allies for ~3% of the crit damage.
4. Use Chem Launcher or Hive for emergency healing if a teammate drops low.
5. Do not switch weapons. Dropping Tipping Scales stacks kills your DPS and healing ramp.

Key Decision Points

Tipping Scales vs. Striker

Tipping Scales wins for the Caduceus healer because CHD ramps directly scale healing. Striker is better for pure DPS and self-heal but does not provide group healing. Test Umbra or Refactor if you want a different playstyle, but Tipping Scales is the community consensus pick.

Chest Talent Choice

Perfect Obliterate for faster power spike on kill chains. Glass Cannon for maximum damage at the cost of taking 50% more damage. Choose Glass Cannon only if your group can protect you.

PvE vs. PvP Adjustments

Same core build works for both. For PvP, add more Blue cores for survivability and swap a skill to Jammer to counter enemy skills. Crit chance is harder to maintain in PvP due to player movement, so prioritize Weapon Handling for accuracy.

Skill Tier Investment

Keep skill investment minimal. The Caduceus is your primary healing tool. Over-investing in skill tier reduces your weapon damage cores, which reduces crit damage, which reduces heal output. The Technician +1 tier is enough.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

x Low crit chance. Without 60%+ crit chance, the Caduceus heal procs too infrequently to sustain the group. Prioritize crit chance on gear and mods before anything else.
x Ignoring CHD. Heals scale off the damage dealt on crits, not just the chance to crit. A 60% crit chance with 200% CHD heals far less than 60% with 450% CHD.
x Using skill-heavy healer gear. Traditional skill healer gear (Future Initiative, etc.) has low weapon damage. The Caduceus needs weapon damage to function. This is a hybrid, not a pure skill build.
x Switching weapons mid-fight. Tipping Scales stacks drop when you stop firing. Weapon switching resets your ramp. Stay on the Caduceus and reload in cover.
x Not maxing seasonal modifiers. Sample canisters and global modifiers provide free magazine size, rate of fire, and weapon handling. These are free stats that directly boost your build.
x Using the Tipping Scales chest. The chest piece bonus is weaker than a Perfect Obliterate chest. Always skip the chest and use a high-end chest with a damage talent.
