Platform Nintendo Switch 2 Vehicle Arwing Run Time ~30 min per run Goal Medals & True Ending
Core Goal

New and returning players want to master Arwing controls quickly, rack up high hit counts for medals and alternate routes, keep teammates alive to unlock paths and ease later missions, and avoid dying early on harder routes. The game is short per run (~30 min), but branching paths and medals are the real depth. This guide builds the foundation for casual runs and high-score play.

1

Master Controls & Mobility

Practice these moves in the first mission (Corneria). Build muscle memory before tackling harder routes.

Boost
Speed up when safe. Don't always boost because it makes turning wider and crashing more likely.
Brake
Slowing down lets you turn sharper and track evasive enemies better than always boosting. Use near groups of enemies.
Somersault
Quick 180-degree flip. Turning during somersaults works smoothly in the remake. Use to grab items or reposition behind enemies.
U-Turn
Wider reverse turn. Use for larger repositioning when somersault is too tight.
Barrel Roll
Deflects lasers and missiles. Does not grant full invincibility against walls or obstacles. Use for laser spam, not for flying into scenery.
Training drill: In Corneria, deliberately brake near enemy groups, somersault to reverse and pick up rings and bombs, and barrel roll through laser spam. Build the muscle memory before moving on.
2

Save Teammates Every Mission

Why this matters: Teammate survival is the single biggest factor in route unlocks and mission difficulty. Ignoring calls to chase high scores costs you paths and makes later missions harder.

Resource Management & Survival

  • +
Collect shield rings, bombs, and repair items aggressively. They drop from destroyed objects and enemies.
  • +
Barrel roll often but not into walls or obstacles. It deflects lasers and missiles but does not grant full invincibility.
  • +
Accept R.O.B. messages promptly for supply drops or cover fire when offered.

Key Decision Points

First-person or third-person view?
Use first-person cockpit view (press Minus button) for precise aiming on bosses or tight sections. Switch to third-person for better awareness of surroundings above and below.
Easy routes or hard routes first?
Take easier routes first to learn layouts and earn initial medals. Once you have medals, replay to branch off into harder paths toward the true ending.
Normal or Expert mode?
Stick to Normal until comfortable. Expert mode has no continues and tougher enemy placement. Only switch once you can consistently clear Normal routes with high hit counts.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

x
Always boosting and crashing into scenery. Brake to turn sharper and track enemies. Boost is for open stretches, not tight sections.
x
Ignoring the hit counter. Low hit counts lock routes and prevent medals. Shoot everything destructible.
x
Skipping replays. The game is short per run. Branching paths and medals are the real depth. Replay early levels to practice and unlock.
x
Ignoring teammate calls. Teammates die fast, and losing them locks routes and makes later missions harder. Always save allies first.
x
Barrel rolling into walls. Barrel roll deflects lasers and missiles but does not grant invincibility against obstacles. Use it for projectile defense only.
