Rust Apartment Monument: Complete Room Rental and Base Guide
How to rent a room at the new Apartment Monument, manage upkeep, avoid Master Key raiders, and decide whether to live there for the whole wipe.
1Room Types and Costs
2Step-by-Step Setup
Find the Monument on Map
The Apartment Monument spawns in lower-threat areas. Check your map on wipe day or fly/scan for it. The exterior and common areas are safe zones with turrets - don't fight inside shared spaces.
Rent a Room at the Concierge Desk
Go to the front desk (concierge) inside the apartment tower. Select your room tier and pay the initial scrap cost. You'll receive access to your assigned room immediately.
Pay additional scrap into the room's red upkeep box (works like a Tool Cupboard). Load it up front for multiple days of security.
Set Up Your Room Immediately
Place a sleeping bag or bed for a spawn point. Store loot in the provided boxes and lockers. Use the built-in workbench, stove, and utilities. Note: you cannot add your own structures inside the room - no building privilege.
Check the concierge if you forget your room number later.
Rent a Shop in the Courtyard
~100 scrap down + ~10 scrap/hour. Lets you run a vending machine and hire an NPC seller. Safe-zone trading with zero base defense needed. One shop per player.
Skip this if you're not planning to trade - it adds daily scrap cost for marginal benefit early wipe.
Manage Upkeep and Stay Under the Radar
Feed scrap to the upkeep box before the timer expires. There's a grace period, but don't rely on it. Check every session.
For raid defense: The Master Key (bought from basement NPC, ~1,000 scrap) lets any player open your room for a 5-minute window. Keep high-value items hidden or stored in a way that the room's value estimator reads as "low" or "medium".
Don't store explosives or stacks of valuable resources if you want to stay under the radar.
