Rivage Time-Loop Reset Mechanics Guide
Rivage gives you 4 energy charges per loop. Opening doors, flipping floors, and some puzzles cost charges. Here is how to plan each loop, use K9 to bank solutions, and reset at the arcade machine to make the next loop cheaper.
Core problem: each loop starts with only 4 energy charges. Opening doors, especially ones you already opened last loop, using the kitchen and lounge floor-flip system, and some puzzle interactions each cost a charge. When you hit zero the path to the arcade machine opens and you have to reset. The goal is not to survive longer, it is to spend those 4 charges on new information and new solved puzzles so the next loop starts cheaper. K9 stores puzzle solutions and logs so you do not re-solve the same thing. Physical items generally do not carry over.
1How a Loop Actually Works
-
1
You wake in bed with 4 charges.
-
2
Every relevant action spends 1 charge.
Opening a door you need to pass through again. Operating the 3-floor kitchen or lounge mechanism, one charge even if you flip several floors at once. Certain puzzle interactions, not every click, only some.
-
3
At 0 charges the exit toward the arcade or loop-trigger device becomes available.
You can still walk around rooms you already opened this loop.
-
4
Go to the arcade machine and trigger the reset.
You wake in bed again. Solved puzzles stay solved via K9. Notes and knowledge stay in your log.
2Actionable Loop Plan
-
L1
Loop 1: map cost, do not try to finish everything.
Open only the doors you need for one cluster of rooms. Read everything you can without spending extra charges on extra doors. Log anything that looks like a code, name, birthday, or combination into K9 or screenshots. When you are at 1 charge left, decide: one more useful puzzle, or walk to the arcade and bank the knowledge.
-
L2
Every later loop: spend charges only on unsolved work.
Do not re-open doors just to wander. Plan a short path: start, unsolved puzzle, new area or log, arcade. Use K9 first. If a puzzle is already logged, skip the expensive interaction. Kitchen or lounge floor flip: do it once per loop if you need that layout, not repeatedly.
-
L3
After you get the contactless or password-helper upgrade, already-unlocked computers stay easier across loops.
Players mentioned this in later demo patches. Treat it as a mid-game tool, not a loop 1 expectation.

Common Mistakes
- Treating the loop like a death timer and rushing. It is an energy budget. Plan your 4 charges.
- Re-solving puzzles instead of checking K9. K9 banks solutions. Use it first.
- Opening every door "just in case" on loop 1 or 2. Map cost first, then target unsolved work.
- Assuming items come with you. They generally do not. Knowledge does.
- Standing at 0 power expecting the world to keep unlocking. Go to the arcade. You can still walk opened rooms.
- Ignoring notes and passwords because they look like flavor. They are often next-loop keys.
