FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE

Visions and Cloud Explained

Cloud is not a fifth party member. He is a Vision you equip onto Rain, Lasswell, or Fina. Here is how to get him at a Sanctum of Light, build Mastery Rank, trigger Resonance with full-wave stagger, and avoid wasting Magicite.

Vision = equipped job Sanctum of Light Full-wave stagger = Resonance
The core confusion: Cloud does not join the roster like a fourth or fifth fighter. He is equipment. One Vision per party member. The Vision stands behind that character, grants their command list, and levels a Mastery Rank separately from your party level. Demo caps party at 15 and Vision Mastery at 5; that save carries into the full game.
Step-by-Step

How to Get and Use Cloud

1
Treat Visions as jobs, not guests. One Vision per party member. The Vision grants their command list and levels a Mastery Rank separately from party level.
2
Get Cloud at a Sanctum of Light. Legacy heroes are not gacha. Walk into a Sanctum of Light on the world map, play a short recap of that character's story, and walk out with the Vision Crystal. Demo players report Cloud, Warrior of Light, and Terra as the early set. If you have not seen a Sanctum yet, keep exploring the first chapter map.
3
Equip him in the Vision menu. Open the party/Vision screen and assign Cloud to one character. Official footage showed Cloud on Lasswell (Breaker / physical). That is the pairing most people copy in the demo. You can swap later.
4
Fight with him equipped so Mastery Rank goes up. Higher rank unlocks more of Cloud's kit (crit-focused skills like Lethal Strike and MP Restore on Critical). Learned abilities can stay on the character even after you swap to a different Vision.
5
Build stagger, then spend Resonance. Enemies have HP (red) and a yellow stagger bar. Hit elemental weakness to drop stagger faster. When every enemy on the field is staggered in the same turn, you fire that character's equipped Vision Resonance. Cloud's is the lightning physical, high-crit Ascension cut-in. If only one enemy staggers, you do not get the full-party Resonance.
6
Awaken only if you are committing. Magicite (from chests and strong monsters) awakens a Vision in three stages. It is limited. Demo completers grab all 7 Magicite in chapter 1 and still treat it as a scarce resource. Do not dump early Magicite into a Vision you will bench.

Decision Table

ChoiceWhat Players DoWhy
Who wears Cloud?Lasswell firstCloud is a physical Breaker (lightning / water, crit kit). Lasswell is the sword character the livestreams showed him on.
Keep Cloud glued on or rotate? Many say "Cloud never comes off" in the demoYou want his Resonance available the moment a full stagger happens.
Spend Magicite on Cloud now?Only if he is your main BreakerThree-stage awaken is permanent-feeling and Magicite is finite.
Learn skills then swap?Yes, that is intendedSkills persist; the currently equipped Vision is what fires Resonance.
Cloud is optional flavor, not required for the story. Legacy Visions have no party dialogue. You can finish the game on original-character Visions if you want. Vision lines are Japanese with subs; that is not a bug.

Common Mistakes

What Demo Players Keep Hitting

x
Thinking Cloud joins the roster like a fourth or fifth fighter. He does not. He is equipment.
x
Staggering one enemy and wondering why Omnislash never pops. You need the whole wave staggered that turn.
x
Spreading Mastery across every character. Vision abilities level per character pairing, so bouncing Cloud between Rain and Lasswell splits progress. Pick a home and stay there.
x
Burning Magicite on the first pretty Vision. You will meet more. Save it for the one you commit to.
x
Expecting English VO on Cloud. Vision lines are Japanese with subs. That is not a bug.
