FF7 Revelation: April 8 2027 Platforms and Editions
Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8 2027 on PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series, and PC. Pick the right edition: Standard, Digital Premium, Physical Deluxe, or Trilogy.
Goal: Lock in the right platform and edition now for Final Fantasy VII Revelation without wasting money on a box that still requires a huge download, missing the Trilogy deal, or paying Square Enix Store shipping. Players are most focused on four things: simultaneous launch on four platforms, whether physical is actually playable offline, which edition includes the Story Expansion Pass and early access, and the $84.99 Trilogy bundle that unlocks Remake Intergrade and Rebirth immediately.
1Decide Platform First
- 1PS5.
Best fidelity and the version most footage is captured on. Physical is a single disc that still requires a download to play.
- 2Xbox Series X and S plus PC (Microsoft Store).
Play Anywhere cross-progression between console and PC. Same disc plus download caveat.
- 3Steam or Epic.
Same game, no disc. Trilogy Edition is listed here.
- 4Switch 2.
Day-one handheld. Physical is a Game-Key Card, meaning a case plus a code with a full download. Players who already like Remake and Rebirth on Switch 2 are treating this as a day-one buy. Others are waiting for performance footage.
2Pick the Edition That Matches What You Want
| Edition | Price | What You Get | Who It Is For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $69.99 | Game plus Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle summon on pre-order | Most people |
| Digital Premium | $99.99 | Game plus Story Expansion Pass (Sephiroth DLC and Vincent and the Turks DLC), 24h early access on April 7, Reclaimant Choker, starter items | People who want the extra story and to play a day early |
| Physical Deluxe | $99.99 | Steelbook plus mini soundtrack plus artbook. Does not include the Expansion Pass or early access | Collectors who want a box, not DLC |
| Collector's | ~$350 | Statue (Cloud, Zack, Sephiroth) plus pass plus extras. SE Store only. Limited | Only if you want the statue |
| Trilogy Edition | $84.99 | Remake Intergrade plus Rebirth playable immediately, plus Revelation on launch, plus same pre-order summon | Best value if you do not already own the first two |
- 1Want DLC and play April 7? Digital Premium.
- 2Do not own Remake or Rebirth? Trilogy Edition. $15 more than Standard, two full games now.
- 3Want a steelbook on the shelf? Physical Deluxe from a retailer like GameStop, knowing you still download the game.
3Pre-order Without Getting Burned
- 1Pre-orders are live on PS Store, Xbox, Steam, Epic, Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and the Square Enix Store.
Switch 2 digital pre-orders were staggered. Physical Game-Key Cards are at retailers.
- 2Pre-order bonus on all digital editions: Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle summon materia. Day-one physical boxes at some retailers also include the Magic: The Gathering Final Showdown promo card. Amazon Day 1 adds a folded poster.
- 3Square Enix Store shipping is repeatedly called out as expensive.
Canada examples of about $50 CAD. Use Amazon, Best Buy, or GameStop if you want physical Deluxe. Collector's is SE Store exclusive and sells out.
- 4Physical PS5 and Xbox: one disc plus mandatory extra download. Switch 2: Game-Key Card. Plan storage and internet for launch week. Community size talk is in the 100GB-plus range. Switch 2 listing mentioned about 130GB.
Key Decision Points
- Trilogy vs Standard. If you do not already own Intergrade and Rebirth on that storefront, Trilogy is the only SKU that is not a rip-off. You play the first two now.
- Premium vs Deluxe. Premium is playtime and story DLC. Deluxe is box contents. Do not mix them up.
- Physical vs digital. Physical is packaging plus a download on every platform. If you want to play without an install wait, digital is simpler.
- Platform hop later. Xbox Play Anywhere covers Series plus Microsoft Store PC. Steam, Epic, PS, and Switch are separate.
Common Mistakes
- Buying Physical Deluxe expecting the Expansion Pass or April 7 access. It does not include either.
- Ordering Collector's or Deluxe from the SE Store and eating shipping plus late delivery. Use a retailer instead.
- Assuming Switch 2 physical is a full cartridge. It is a Game-Key Card. Full download required.
- Waiting for a complete trilogy box with all DLC. That does not exist yet in the West. Japan has a Complete Edition announcement. Treat that as later.
- Ignoring that Highwind flight and the 8-character party are day-one systems. Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid. That does not change which SKU you buy, but it means you are buying a much bigger world than Rebirth.
