Expedition 33 Lune + Verso Team Guide
Best Lune + Verso + Maelle team for Acts 2-3 and endgame - stain rotations, Perfection mechanics, Picto priorities, and the damage synergies that make it work.
Core Goal: Chain stain mechanics (Lune), Perfection counters (Verso), and Virtuous Stance (Maelle) for consistent high damage. Stains massively amplify Lune's multi-hits, Verso converts free shots and counters into burst, and Maelle carries burst damage through Stance uptime. Agility over Might - speed builds dominate player discussion for this comp.
Lune Stain DPS / Hybrid Support
Build Overview
Early/Mid: Wildfire → Thermal Transfer (extra turn + ice stain) → Lightning Dance (single-target) or Elemental Genesis (AoE).
With Benism (level 10+): Wildfire (fire + light stain) → Thermal Transfer (earth → extra turn) → Elemental Genesis.
Late/Crit-focused: Elemental Trick (4 stains on crit) → Genesis / Hell / Stormcaller. Pair with Verso's multi-hits for extra lightning procs.
Support variant: Typhoon for party AP/heals/buffs + Gradient attacks. Healing Light/Rebirth for sustain in tough fights.
- Energizing Start I/II/III - AP generation for opening turns
- Critical Burn, Burning Mark, Rewarding Mark - damage multipliers
- Healing Counter/Mark, Accelerating Heal - sustain
- Energizing Parry/Shell, Glass Cannon, Confident (from Axon areas) - speed/damage
Verso Perfection / Counter DPS
Build Overview
Setup → Burst: Marking Shot → Defiant Strike/Berserk Slash (low HP buffs) or Phantom Stars/End Bringer/Perfect Break.
Core mechanic: Maintain Perfection/Rank at S floor via skills and Pictos. Counter and parry heavily - Verso's damage multiplies with parry count.
Free Shot loop: Base attack setups for Free Shot spam between major rotation windows.
- Energizing Parry, Inverted Affinity - counter synergies
- Confident, First Strike, Augmented First Strike - opener damage
- Perilous Parry - high-risk high-reward counter amplifier
- Low HP buffs (if running berserk variant)
Maelle Burst / Virtuous Stance Carry
Build Overview
Stance loop: Spark → Swift Stride (return to Virtuous Stance) → Fleuret Fury/Percee (damage + stance maintain). Stendhal for big late-fight burst windows.
Team synergy: Marking Shots/Rewarding Mark. Burning skills sync with Lune's fire stains for shared multipliers.
- Augmented Counter, Energizing Start - counter amp and AP
- Critical Burn, Last Stand Critical - damage multipliers
- Burning Mark - fire stain synergy with Lune
- Cheater - stance + attack on the same turn (unlocked later)
General Team Tips
- Start every battle with Energizing Start Pictos for strong AP openers across all three characters.
- Use marks and burns across characters for shared damage multipliers that stack between Lune, Verso, and Maelle.
- Parry and dodge for AP generation and survival - practice timing on common enemies before harder fights.
- Explore Forgotten Battlefield and Axon islands for key Pictos including Glass Cannon, Confident, and Augmented First Strike.
- Level weapons consistently - see the Chroma Catalyst Farm guide for efficient catalyst sources.
Key Decision Points
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Ignoring stain buildup on Lune - Elemental Genesis and Hell deal a fraction of their damage without proper stains active. Every rotation must build stains first.
- Poor Verso Perfection management - letting Rank drop below S or skipping counters cuts Verso's damage significantly. Parry as much as possible.
- Losing Maelle's Virtuous Stance - her largest DPS contribution vanishes immediately when Stance breaks. The Swift Stride → Fleuret loop exists specifically to maintain it.
- Investing heavily in Might over Agility - speed builds dominate for this team. Might-heavy builds lose turn order advantages and break the combo chain timing.
- Skipping exploration for key Pictos - Benism, Medalum, and Axon-area Pictos are major rotation upgrades. Missing them means running a noticeably weaker version of the build.
- No AP generation setup - high-cost nuke skills (Elemental Hell, End Bringer) require enough AP to cast. Without Energizing Pictos, you can't fire the big hits when needed.
