Why Revelations bosses feel overtuned

Revelations DLC bosses punish one-tool playstyles. Projectile spam, tight parry windows, and multi-threat phases cause frequent deaths even for players who beat the base game comfortably. The biggest pain points are Marok's levitating barrage phase and the Henchman's relentless combo chains. Players report 20-70+ attempts on key fights before the parry and sidestep rhythm clicks.

Major boss strategies in encounter order

Agaddon Brute Champion Early DLC

Phase: Sustained DPS + Add Management

1Fill the purple stagger bar with sustained high-rate fire. Avoid slow heavies here; rapid weapons build stagger faster.
2When the Pinky Rider spawns, quickly address it but return focus to the Brute immediately. Do not tunnel-vision the boss while adds kill you.
3Use shield charge and ram chops for reliablefalters on Agaddon types. Parry their shielded attacks when possible for bigger punish windows.
This fight teaches the DLC's shield-spear swap rhythm. Practice quick weapon switching here before tackling harder bosses.
Marok Hardest Wall

Phase 1: Melee Combos

1Default to the shield for better parry windows and survivability. Multiple players switched from spear-main to shield and beat him in 1-3 more tries.
2Parry his sword strings, then punish during the stagger window. Switch to spear only briefly for air phases or when he is not pressuring you.
3Use Combat Shotgun + Shield for sustained damage. Parries give Dread Mace charges for burst punish.

Phase 2: Jump Back + Energy Beam + Projectile Barrage

1Jump the energy beam when he fires it from range.
2Strafe or sprint sideways (perpendicular to the barrage) instead of spear-dashing. Dashing often fails here; the loading screen hint confirms you cannot dodge through it. Turning and running sideways makes most projectiles miss.
3Get to the health checkpoint before the big barrage by maintaining consistent early damage. Use meat hook or grapple on adds if they spawn for health pickups.
Key decision: Shield vs Spear. Default to shield for this fight. It feels significantly better for parrying Marok's melee strings. Spear is only for repositioning during air phases.
The Henchman Final Boss

First Encounter (Story Fight - Unwinnable)

1You cannot fully win this encounter. A cutscene triggers regardless. Use this fight to learn his patterns: combo timing, projectile arcs, and skull spawns.

Phase 1: Combo + Projectile Barrage

1Keep distance overall for dodging room, but close in for parries and melee punish windows.
2Shoot fiery skulls immediately when they spawn. They drop health pickups on death.
3For jump shockwaves, use meat hook to grapple to him mid-jump and avoid the ground pound.
4Swap weapons fluidly: shield to parry combos (more forgiving window), spear or chain for dashes and mobility to reposition. Run circles for pickups during bombardment phases.

Phase 2: Glowing Horn + Slime

1Same rhythm but tighter timing. Focus on survival first, then DPS windows after successful parries.
2Yellow eye projectile: switch directions mid-dodge to avoid the tracking.
3Treat like a Souls boss: learn patterns over aggression. Patience wins this phase.
Xal'Goroth Optional Super Boss

Prerequisites + Combat

1Max all upgrades and collect full resources before attempting. Unlocked via collectibles, Praetor fights, and gold rituals.
2Quick shield-sword and spear swaps: shield for heavy defense against cosmic attacks, offensive weapon for damage windows.
3Expect high mobility demands. Cosmic attacks cover wide areas. Stay mobile and punish only during clear recovery windows.
Community notes Xal'Goroth is tough on Nightmare but rewarding. On lower difficulties it serves as a skills check for everything you learned in the DLC.

Choices that make or break your run

Shield vs. Spear Loadout

Shield for defensive and parry-heavy bosses (Marok, Henchman melee). Spear for mobility and grapple on adds and projectile phases. Quick swap is the core of DLC combat. Practice it early.

Difficulty and Speed Sliders

Some players drop to lower difficulty or game speed (100%) for Marok to learn, then ramp back up. No shame if it lets you progress and enjoy the fight.

When to Aggress

After successful parry or falter for big stagger windows. Otherwise, prioritize not dying. Health pickups from skulls and adds are vital for sustained fights.

Weapon Upgrade Priority

Max upgrades before Xal'Goroth. For story bosses, ensure your primary weapon and shield are at least 2 levels above the recommended zone for your difficulty.

Xal'Goroth Fight

Key mistakes to avoid

X Relying only on spear dash to dodge everything. Spear dash fails on Marok's projectile barrage. Strafe or sprint sideways instead.
X Tunnel-visioning the boss while adds kill you. Pinky Riders, skulls, and dogs spawn during boss fights. Address them quickly, then return focus to the boss.
X Staying at one range without parry readiness. Too close without parrying gets you comboed. Too far without mobility tools means you eat projectiles. Find the mid-range sweet spot.
X Not swapping weapons fluidly. Many players stuck with one tool and suffered. The DLC is built around quick shield-spear swaps. Practice the swap rhythm on early bosses.
X Ignoring upgrades and collectibles before super bosses. Xal'Goroth requires max upgrades. Do not attempt undergeared.
