NG+ Efficient Route Minimal Backtracking DLC Included

What This Guide Solves

In NG+, Bloodborne scales up enemy and boss health and damage significantly, especially in early areas. But your upgraded weapons, gems, levels, and experience make you much stronger. Players want the most efficient boss order to progress quickly to endgame, minimize backtracking, grab key upgrades without over-exploring tough optional zones, and handle DLC and endings properly.

Mandatory Boss Order (Fast Progression)

Run past most enemies and focus on lanterns and bosses. Your +10 weapon trivializes many early fights.

  1. Father Gascoigne Central Yharnam

Start here immediately. Use the music box if you have it. Visceral attacks shine with your build. Unlocks Cathedral Ward progress.

  2. Vicar Amelia Cathedral Ward

Buy the Hunter Chief Emblem if needed (or skip Cleric Beast entirely in NG+). Easy parry/visceral boss with your power. Triggers night phase for side areas. Grab chunks along the way.

  3. Shadow of Yharnam Forbidden Woods

Follow lanterns for the direct path. Pick up the blood chunk behind the snake trio. Still manageable; your damage melts them.

  4. Rom, the Vacuous Spider Byrgenwerth

Overpowered fight now. Clear spiders quickly, focus the boss. Advances the story and unlocks more areas.

  5. The One Reborn Yahar'gul, Unseen Village

Clear for chunks and the 18% physical gem. Straightforward with your gear.

  6. Micolash, Host of the Nightmare Nightmare of Mensis

Cheese or run the maze if needed. Collect more chunks and Blood Rock.

  7. Mergo's Wet Nurse Nightmare of Mensis

End of main story path. Finish for echoes and to access Gehrman and Moon Presence. Backup saves recommended for multiple endings.

💡
DLC Timing Do the DLC (Ludwig, Living Failures, Lady Maria, Orphan of Kos, plus optional Laurence) before Wet Nurse for extra dialogue and to avoid NG++ lockout.

Optional Bosses (All-Bosses Route)

Insert optionals around story triggers for a full completion run.

Early (Post-Amelia, Night Phase)

  • Cleric Beast
  • Blood-Starved Beast
  • Witches of Hemwick
  • Darkbeast Paarl

Mid (Post-Rom)

  • Martyr Logarius (Cainhurst)
  • Amygdala (Nightmare Frontier)
  • Celestial Emissary (Upper Cathedral Ward)
  • Ebrietas (Upper Cathedral Ward)

DLC (Anytime after Rom)

  • Ludwig
  • Living Failures
  • Lady Maria
  • Orphan of Kos
  • Laurence (optional)

Endgame

  • Gehrman
  • Moon Presence

Key Decision Points

Speed vs. Completion?
Skip everything non-mandatory for fast NG+ cycles. Chalice difficulty doesn't scale with NG+, so handle hard ones whenever you want.
DLC timing?
Do the DLC before final bosses for lore and dialogue. Laurence and Orphan are flexible but best done before Wet Nurse.
Which ending?
Backup save before Gehrman. Consume 0-2 umbilical cords for the "submit" ending. Consume 3+ cords for Moon Presence. Reload for multiple endings.
Level and gear?
Level 100-120+ with good gems and a +10 weapon is plenty. Focus VIT and your main stat. Use Moon rune for echo farming.
